Marcin Macieszczak becomes managing partner at GESSEL

It is with great pleasure that we announce that, effective 1 January 2017, Marcin Macieszczak has assumed the responsibilities of managing partner at GESSEL.

Marcin Macieszczak is widely acclaimed as a leading M&A lawyer in Poland, consistently named in the M&A and Private Equity categories of the Chambers Europe ranking. He first joined GESSEL in 1999; in January 2007, he became a partner and took over leadership of our M&A practice. His professional track record focuses on various aspects of mergers and acquisitions.

In his new capacity as managing partner, Marcin Macieszczak will not only coordinate the work of our expanding M&A practice, but will also be charged with overall growth and management of the firm as a whole.

Dr Beata Gessel – Kalinowska vel Kalisz, the founder of our firm and hereuntil our managing partner, is now assuming the role of senior partner, concentrating her day-to-day work on her international arbitration practice, also as head of GESSEL’s arbitration department.

Dr Beata Gessel – Kalinowska vel Kalisz will also be continuing her research into the legal aspects of M&A transactions which she began as a visiting academic at Oxford University Law Department in the 2015/2016 academic year and at Cambridge University Law Department within the Herbert Smith Freehills Visiting Professor Scheme in the 2016/2017 academic year.

GESSEL’s professional team now comprises more than 50 lawyers, including 12 partners.
