Graduated from the Mikołaj Kopernik University in Toruń, Faculty of Law and Administration. Completed post-graduate studies in copyright, publishing and press law at the Institute of Inventions and Protection of Intellectual Property at the Jagiellonian University, Krakow, and also graduated from that Institute’s Faculty of Management and Social Communication and completed its post-graduate course in Competition Law. Fluent in English.
With GESSEL since 1999, became a partner in 2004. Previously, a lawyer at White & Case Poland (1998-1999), Polska Korporacja Telewizyjna CANAL+ Polska (1995-1998), and at FILM PLUS (1995-1998).
Her professional expertise comprises advising on audiovisual broadcast license agreements, production of audiovisual programmes agreements, film co-production agreements, distribution agreements, audiovisual co-author agreements, and negotiating and drafting general license agreements with collective copyright and neighbouring rights management organisations. At GESSEL, Dorota’s practice centres on cases dealing with the protection of intellectual property, including copyright and industrial property law; she has extensive experience in transactions involving rights in computer programmes, implementation of ICT solutions, and the internet. She provides legal advice concerning counteracting acts of unfair competition, including acts of unfair competition in advertising or disclosure of business secrets. Media (including press law) and advertising law are her other areas of interest. Her legal advice also deals with personal data protection. As far as pharmaceutical law is concerned, she provides legal advisory services on trade in medicinal products, conducting clinical trials of medical products and their advertisement. Another field of her activity comprises providing advisory services on labour law issues and alternative methods of employment (including management contracts). Her services in this respect are addressed to temporary work agencies, work agencies and human resource consultancies, as well as to entities acting as outsourcing agents.
