Audit Committee

7 January 2010 saw the launch of the Audit Committee project organised by the Supervisory Boards Academy in collaboration with the Warsaw Securities Exchange, the Corporate Governance Studies Centre of the Leon Koźmiński Academy, BDO, and by GESSEL, with media patronage by the Rzeczpospolita daily and by Gazeta Giełdy Parkiet.

The commencement lecture was given at the Listings Room of the Warsaw Securities Exchange by Leszek Koziorowski, partner in GESSEL, Krzysztof Marczuk, attorney at GESSEL, and by Katarzyna Iwuć and Dr Kristof Zorde of BDO. The Audit Committeeproject will comprise free-of-charge seminars as well as educational and information activities in the mass media, including the internet. These various measures will have the goal of increasing knowledge about financial reporting and corporate governance principles among members of the governing bodies of publicly listed companies and encouraging establishment of professional audit committees in public companies to ensure professional business risk management in keeping with corporate governance principles and with the legislative Act of 7 May 2009 regarding qualified auditors and their self-government, entities authorised to audit financial reports, and public oversight (Dz.U. No 77, item 649).

The next Audit Committee seminar will be held on 10 March 2010 in the Listings Room of the Warsaw Securities Exchange, with Leszek Koziorowski, partner in GESSEL, participating in the discussion of Possibilities for Participation in General Shareholders Meetings on a Remote Basis From the Perspective of Institutional Investors.
