Competition law workshops

On 12 December, Bernadeta Kasztelan-Świetlik led one of the modules in the online training event entitled “Counteraction of unfair market practices – Competition protection in light of UOKiK practice and imminent changes”.

Bernadeta Kasztelan-Świetlik outlined the concept of unfair market practices and competition-inhibiting behaviour and elaborated on:

• The penalty policies of UOKiK, the Polish antitrust and consumer protection authority – transparency, the various factors affecting fine assessment, and planned changes;
• Financial penalties vs other forms of influencing the conduct of market players;
• Appeals against UOKiK decisions – defence strategies;
• Complaints against high penalties – review of the jurisprudence.
