Dr. Beata Gessel-Kalinowska vel Kalisz is a member of the ICC International Court of Arbitration in Paris

Dr. Beata Gessel-Kalinowska vel Kalisz was appointed a member of the ICC International Court of Arbitration in Paris for another term (she previously served as an alternate member).

The members of the Court are appointed for a three-year term (2018-2021) from 104 countries, a maximum of two members (member and alternate member) from each one, while observing full gender parity and unprecedented diversity – 88 women and 88 men were appointed.

The ICC International Court of Arbitration ICC , in existence since 1923, is a leading international arbitration institution for settling commercial disputes. In 2017, the ICC Court received 810 new cases from a record number of 142 countries.

Dr. Beata Gessel-Kalinowska vel Kalisz became a member of the International Arbitration Court at ICC in Paris in 2015. From 2011 to 2017, she was the President (and, in 2017, became the Honorary President) of the Court of Arbitration Lewiatan. She is a member of the Audit Commission of the Polish Arbitration Association and chair of the Audit Committee at the Polish Association of Capital Investors – an organization assembling private equity funds active in Poland. For many years, Dr Gessel has been recommended in international rankings in the Dispute resolution category: Most in Demand Arbitrators, where her inquisitive style and effectiveness as well as strong business sense were appreciated and her activity in the promotion of Polish arbitration was emphasized: “Beata Gessel has put Poland on the international arbitration scene, she is also called the first lady of arbitration in Poland”.
