Dr Beata Gessel-Kalinowska vel Kalisz addresses the 7th DIS Baltic Arbitration Days 2018

The 7^th iteration of this annual event was held on 14-15 June 2018 on the Stockholm School of Economics campus in Riga. The conference was devoted to the 60th anniversary of the New York Convention and to arbitration of corporate disputes in Ireland, Russia, the UK and in Ukraine.

Dr Beata Gessel was invited to join the panel debate “Arbitration of corporate disputes”. The panellists defined the characteristic features of “corporate” disputes and what kinds of disputes are subsumed under this category in their respective jurisdictions. They also tackled the question of what are the particular challenges entailed in arbitrating “corporate” disputes in their various countries. The panel was moderated by Prof Christian Borris of Borris Hennecke Kneisel, Cologne, and the panellists included: Ania Farren of Berwin Leighton Paisner, London; Markiyan Kliuchkovskyi of Egorov Puginsky Afanasiev & Partners, Kiev; and Alexander Khrapoutski of Sysouev, Bondar, Khrapoutski & Partners, Minsk and dr Gessel.
