“Romanticism, or profit? Football – the only business of its kid” was the title of a panel debate on the relationships between football and business organised by GESSEL on the second day of this year’s Economic Forum in Krynica-Zdrój, often referred to as “the Polish Davos”.

The debate was moderated by Grzegorz Kalinowski, head of the football desk at nSport, and by Mikołaj Kunica, a reporter for TVN CNBC Biznes. The present and future of Polish football was hotly debated by a group of, fittingly enough, eleven panellists who, for this occasion, assumed the moniker “Krynica Eagles”: Ludwik Sobolewski – chairman of the Warsaw stock exchange, Jan Krzysztof Bielecki – president of the Management Board of Pekao S.A., Leszek Miklas – president of the KP Legia Warsaw football team, Mirosław Drzewiecki – the Polish Minister of Sport, Rostyslav Karandieiev – the Ukrainian Vice Minister of Sport, Ryszard Grobelny – Mayor of Poznań, Jacek Kowalski – mayor of Nowy Dwór.

The event elicited a warm reaction by the Forum’s participants and visitors, and its attractive format and unique football atmosphere (guests were issued with football scarves and referee whistles) were parlayed not only into a solid turnout, but also an animated discussion.

The media patrons of the panel were nSport and TVN CNBC Biznes.
