28 January witnessed another of GESSEL’s business breakfasts devoted to employment law in practice, dealing with amendments of the Polish Labour Code as regards the duration of employment contracts.

The amendments to the Labour Code scheduled to come into force on 22 February 2016 will implement an entirely new legal regime governing employment contracts executed for a fixed term. In particular, the new rules will impose time limits on fixed-term employment contracts and modify the applicable periods of notice. Legislative changes of this order are of considerable importance to anybody whose day-to-day work involves employment law issues.
