Culture and academia have been among the areas of public life most severely affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

Long closures dictated by public health measures and paucity of public funding have left cultural institutions hanging on by a proverbial thread. If you were considering a charitable contribution for culture, this is as good a moment as any.

Today, we face myriad challenges, each one of them significant in its own context. For our modest part, we propose to concentrate on providing some succour to culture and art. Culture, for many, was a source of strength and a welcome diversion when the first lockdown descended, and being once again able to visit a museum or to attend a concert is one of the joys we look forward to as the lockdowns ease. We will continue looking to culture for a sense of purpose, for identity, and for a point of communal reference.

Donate 1% of your tax to the GESSEL Foundation for Zachęta – the National Gallery of Art !

As of 2018, the GESSEL Foundation for Zachęta is officially registered as a public usefulness organisation.

For 6 years, our Foundation has been supporting young researchers pursuing ideas and projects in the various realms of modern culture studies, helping them to complete their work and to share it with a broader audience, also internationally.

The Foundation pools donations from our benefactors to award scholarships for doctoral study and prizes for outstanding master’s theses, thus supporting Polish academia and popularising culture.

To date, the Foundation has awarded fifteen scholarships.
