The Polish Coalition of Oncological Patient Organisations was established in February 2009 by four organisations – the Amazon Associations Federation, the Owl Eyes Support Association for Lymphoma Patients, the Nationwide Association for Support of Chronic Bone Marrow Leukaemia Patients, and the POL-ILKO Polish Ostomy Society. It is a member of the European Cancer Patient Association since September 2009. GESSEL has assisted in the establishment of the Polish Coalition of Oncological Patient Organisations as well as helping it in its day-to-day operations.

The Polish Coalition of Oncological Patient Organisations strives to provide oncological patient organisations with comprehensive support and to cooperate with them in fostering cohesive health care policies. It represents its member organisations in dealings with public institutions and fosters exchange of experiences and best practices at the national and European levels.
