The European Union’s Fit for 55 package presents a major challenge for countries which continue to run coal-based economies. It also sets out a to-do list which must be implemented if we are to remedy the climate crisis.

Poland, being as it is one of the biggest CO2 polluters, needs to countenance introduction – effective 1 January 2023 – of the new carbon border adjustment mechanism (CBAM) tax.

The coming into force of CBAM will entail new duties for Polish importers of goods covered by the mechanism, first and foremost as regards filing of applications (…)
