PLN 5 mln – This is the value of overdue liabilities that will attract the attention of UOKiK

The Polish government is promising that, before the month is up, it will adopt a draft legislative Act regarding payment backlogs. Yet most business enterprises may breathe easy; under the newest proposals, the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) will have authority to punish only companies which rack up PLN 5 mln in overdue liabilities over three consecutive months (the originally mooted limit was PLN 500,000). This in an economic environment where overdue receivables are a problem for more than half of business enterprises. (…)
