Dr Beata Gessel-Kalinowska vel Kalisz, managing partner of GESSEL and president of the Lewiatan Arbitration Court, took part in a panel debate entitled “ Growth Transcends Borders. M&A Transactions in Foreign Markets” held during this year’s iteration of the Economic Forum in Krynica ( 2-4 September 2014).

The debate, organised by mBank, touched upon issues such as the relative advantages and disadvantages of growing a business by way of mergers and acquisitions as juxtaposed with organic development, the considerations informing choice of one over the other, the means of priming one’s own organisation for take-over of a foreign entity in order to ensure achievement of the desired effects, the changes entailed in entering a new market (in terms of management, organisational culture, and risk factors), whether or not the fears of foreign expansion entertained by some Polish companies are justified, where to best commence foreign expansion, the factors predicating success in foreign markets, and where opportunities for Polish companies might be found.

Apart from Beata Gessel-Kalinowska vel Kalisz, participants in the panel included representatives of mBank, Harvard Business Review Polska, Enterprise Investors, and Kruk S.A.
