GESSEL hosts the seminar entitled “Personal data processing and the legal duties of the data administrator and the information security administrator”

The “Personal data processing and the legal duties of the data administrator and the information security administrator” seminar was held at our offices on 10 December 2014. Its goals lay in briefing participants on the basic principles of personal data protection, with especial emphasis on the imminent amendments to the legislative Act regarding personal data protection.

Practice demonstrates that irregularities associated with data protection law are among the most frequent offences committed by business enterprises. The attendant problems run the gamut of obtaining and processing personal data, maintaining internal documentation, granting authorisations, and fulfilling reporting duties vis a vis the Inspector General for Personal Data Protection (Polish abbreviation GIODO).

The seminar included a discussion of the main issues connected with the amendments to the legislative Act regarding personal data protection scheduled to come into force on 1 January 2015. The rationale for these legislative amendments lay in reducing red tape and in facilitating compliance with the data protection laws in the course of day-to-day operations.
