Jubilee, milestone and all – Our hundredth newsletter

25.09.2019 Publications

Ladies and Gentlemen,

This Newsletter is special for our firm, and for me personally, in that we are presently bringing you issue 100. A round number, pleasing to the eye.

A brief summary and retrospection might be in order. I remember when we were first launching these newsletters. The overarching idea was, and still is, to keep you updated on important changes in the law. The first newsletters, duly published as of December 2008, centred on capital markets, in that the original formula envisaged concentrating on those areas of Polish law which appertain to the equity markets. Soon enough, in response to reader feedback, we found ourselves writing brief summaries of developments in other areas of the law in which our lawyers practice. We now find ourselves looking back on a 50-50 spread; while 52 of the newsletters published to date were devoted to capital markets law, 13 dealt with competition law, 13 with companies law, and 10 with tax law. These were complemented by individual issues dealing with employment law, personal data protection, compliance, public procurement, intellectual property law, and administrative procedure.

To indulge in a review of the most popular topics, our statistics indicate that the following newsletters were met with the greatest interest:
– “Coming into force of new rules governing statute of limitations on claims” – (see here)
– “Monitoring of employees – Care advised in formulation of workplace rules” – (see here)
– “Revolutionary changes in the bond market as of July 2019 – Issuers and issue agents subject to new duties” – (see here)
– “Risk that the Polish Financial Supervision Authority (KNF) may levy financial penalties on members of the Management Boards and Supervisory Boards of publicly traded companies” – (see here).

Also, the GESSEL newsletters are read on a regular basis by 1,366 subscribers !

Please let me take this opportunity to thank you for your interest in our newsletters and in our firm. I do hope that future issues might also prove to be of interest to you, and – as always – we look forward to receiving any feedback or comments !

Happy reading,
