Partner, adwokat (advocate), head of GESSEL’s risk support and special cases practice as well as of its litigation department. Represents corporate entities in various adversarial situations, in negotiations, and in day-to-day business matters. His practice also extends to new technologies, legal rights in intangible assets, and to questions of liability in these areas.
His studies and his extensive practice at the nexus of business and the law also enable Piotr to advise on complex business transactions, on strategic planning, merger and acquisition transactions, restructuring and retrenchment, and on various negotiations and atypical cases. His practice has also involved competition and consumer protection law. Expert in international law.
Piotr’s experience with litigation covers court proceedings as well as arbitration. He has advised clients in criminal proceedings (also in the fields of organised crime and of white collar crime) and on criminal aspects of business and companies law.
Graduate of the Faculty of Law and Administration at Jagiellonian University, Krakow, at which he also completed a postgraduate course in copyright, publishing, and press law.
Author of publications discussing general legal issues, tax law, M&A, and procedural / litigation matters. Also writes opinion pieces on issues relating to the law and legal practice for periodicals such as “Dziennik Gazeta Prawna”, “FORBES”, “Rzeczpospolita”, and “Rynek Kapitałowy”.
Regularly invited to comment on questions of business law and international law on Polish public television and by various private broadcasters, including TVN, TVN 24, TVN24 Biznes i Świat, Polsat, Polsat News, TVP 1, TVP 2, TVP Info, TV Biznes, RMF, ESKA, Radio Zet, Onet, Wirtualna Polska, and Polskie Radio.
Member of the Program Council of The International Institute of Civil Society (MISO) and member of the Board of the World Civil Protection Board (WCPB).
In 2019 Adam Bodnar, the Civil Rights Ombudsman, officially thanked Piotr Schramm for “consistent commitment to, and support of citizens in, actions protecting human rights“.
