Responding to the call of the Polish artistic community which, in 2007, decided to honour the memory of the much-loved artist, GESSEL participated in establishment of the Krystiana Robb-Narbutt Foundation. The Foundation is active in the fields of culture, the arts, and heritage and tradition preservation; it aims to popularise the achievements of Polish artists, to support creative endeavour, and to propagate contemporary art. From 2008 onwards, the Foundation – working through a committee composed of, among other members, Agnieszka Morawińska, Dorota Jarecka, Jarosław Kozakiewicz, and Paweł Susid – bestows the Krystiana Robb-Narbutt award to independent artists; the recipients to date were Zygmunt Piotrowski (2008) and Jerzy Kosałka (2009).
Krystiana Robb-Narbutt (1945-2006) – artist, poet. Many of her works are imbued with symbolic meanings and are characterised by a delicate, misty colour palette. Robb-Narbutt has also worked with textiles and written several volumes of poetry.
